Compression and Leakdown before AP Tune?

Compression and Leakdown before AP Tune?

Postby csibbs » Thu Jun 07, 2012 7:35 am

As always I am considering coming to Precision to have them do my tune.
They did my 05 WRX and I was extremely satisfied.

Right now I have a 2012 STI Limited with an Invidia Downpipe and I have a K&N drop in in the box, but its not in yet due to cobbs map specs.

My question is do you guys do a compression and leakdown test on the car before tuning it because I have had some people tell me that I may have blown ringlands, but I do not see any smoke coming from my exhaust at startup, or during WOT. There is also no smoke coming from the oil filler cap and my idle is not rough.

This was suggested to me because after doing a few data log runs my DAM was constantly changing.
I was under the impression it was bad gas, but I have been told otherwise.

I have data logs posted on nasioc and I am willing to email you them becuase if no problem arises I would like to be tuned ASAP.

Right now I am running the 91ACN map with 93 octane and I am seeing minimal knock with my DAM at 1.0

But before that I was running the Stage 2 93 OTS map from cobb with 93 octane and my DAM was down to .81

I can be reached directly by email
